Yemeni Forces Down U.S. Drone, Target Israeli Bases in Ongoing Retaliation

The Yemeni Armed Forces launched multiple missile and drone attacks on Israeli military sites and U.S. assets in retaliation for ongoing airstrikes and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, confirmed that the first strike targeted the Israeli Sodet Micha military base, located east of Ashdod, using a hypersonic Palestine 2 missile. Additionally, Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv was hit by a Zulfiqar missile, disrupting air traffic for at least one hour, according to Israeli media reports.

In a separate operation, a drone strike hit a crucial Israeli target in Ashkelon. Sirens were triggered in several areas, prompting many residents to seek shelter as missiles were launched from Yemen.

Shortly after the missile strikes, Yemeni forces announced they had downed a U.S.-made MQ-9 drone over the city of Hajjah. The drone was brought down using a domestically produced surface-to-air missile, marking the 19th drone downed by Yemeni air defenses in the ongoing operation “The Promised Victory and Sacred War,” which Yemen claims is in support of Palestinians in Gaza. This latest success marked the fourth drone downed in just two weeks.

Brigadier General Saree emphasized that the operation was a direct response to recent U.S. airstrikes on Yemen, which caused casualties and damage to civilian properties. He reaffirmed that Yemeni military capabilities remain strong and warned that continued U.S. aggression would only result in more failure for the U.S. and Israel.

The Yemeni Armed Forces vowed to continue their operations until U.S. airstrikes on Yemen cease and the siege on Gaza is lifted.

Meanwhile, U.S. warplanes carried out three airstrikes south of Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, targeting a ceramics factory in the Bani Matar District on Monday. According to the Yemeni Ministry of Health, at least six people were killed and 20 others were injured in the attack.

Yemen has reiterated its commitment to launching missile strikes against U.S. targets in the Red Sea and Israeli targets in occupied Palestine, positioning these actions as part of its broader support for Gaza and its efforts to end the blockade and the U.S.-backed war on the Palestinian enclave.
