At least 15 people were injured in a Russian drone attack on the Ukrainian city of Dnipro on April 8, according to Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Governor Serhii Lysak.
As of April 9, eight of the injured remain in the hospital. One person suffered light injuries, while the others are in moderate condition, Lysak said.
The drone strikes caused multiple explosions between 10 and 11 p.m. local time, sparking fires across the city. Residential homes, high-rise buildings, and vehicles were among the targets.
According to local officials, the attack damaged four private homes, 15 apartment buildings, around 20 vehicles, as well as several businesses and administrative buildings.
Dnipro, Ukraine’s fourth-largest city, plays a vital role in logistics and humanitarian aid during the ongoing war. Because of its strategic importance, it has been a frequent target of Russian drone and missile attacks. Just weeks earlier, on March 28, a major drone strike on the city killed four people and injured 24 more.
Kharkiv, located in northeastern Ukraine, was also hit by a large drone attack on April 8, resulting in further casualties and infrastructure damage.
The latest wave of attacks comes as Moscow continues to reject a proposed 30-day ceasefire offered by the United States. Ukrainian officials have said they are ready to agree to a full ceasefire if Russia also commits to the terms.
