A Ukrainian drone has reportedly destroyed a modern Russian T-80BVM tank in the Lyman sector of the Donetsk region, according to a video shared Sunday on Telegram.
The footage was posted by the Signum unit, part of Ukraine’s 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade, named after Prince Volodymyr Monomakh. The strike was confirmed by the Khortytsia operational and strategic group of Ukrainian forces.
While the exact time of the strike was not revealed, Ukrainian forces said the tank had been concealed inside an industrial building. Aerial reconnaissance located the hidden vehicle, and the drone operator managed to steer the drone through the building’s concrete structures and ceilings to reach and destroy the tank.
The T-80BVM is considered one of Russia’s most advanced battle tanks, making its destruction a significant gain for Ukrainian forces in the ongoing conflict.
