Syrian Democratic Forces Repel Turkish Attacks, Down Four Drones

by Belinda

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Media Center issued a statement today confirming that Turkish forces and their allied mercenaries failed in their recent offensive and that four drones were downed by SDF fighters. The statement outlined several air and ground assaults launched by Turkey in the previous day.

According to the SDF, Turkish warplanes targeted the Tishrin Dam and surrounding areas, with multiple airstrikes hitting workers’ housing at the dam. The village of Ramda was also bombed, coinciding with heavy artillery shelling aimed at several villages southeast of Manbij. The Turkish forces launched a coordinated assault with more than 11 suicide drones, of which four were successfully intercepted by SDF fighters.

During the aerial and ground bombardment, Turkish-backed mercenaries attempted to advance on SDF positions but were repelled by the forces. The clash resulted in casualties among the mercenaries, though the exact number remains unclear. The Martyr Haroun Units also played a crucial role in thwarting the attack, destroying a military vehicle carrying rocket launchers intended for use by the mercenaries.

On the Deir Hafer front, the SDF reported drone strikes and suicide drone attacks by Turkish forces, causing only material damage. Surveillance aircraft were also seen flying over the region throughout the day.

Meanwhile, on the Qereqozaqê front, Turkish warplanes launched multiple airstrikes on the village of Ghasaq, causing extensive damage to civilian property. Other nearby villages, including al-Tina, Ja’da, Bir Hasso, Dikan, Malha, and San’a, were hit by over 80 artillery shells, tanks, rocket launchers, and mortars, resulting in significant material destruction.

The SDF fighters successfully repelled another attack by Turkish-backed mercenaries, who took advantage of the bombardment. Several mercenaries were reported injured, but the number remains unconfirmed.

In the Ain Issa region, Turkish forces targeted villages with heavy weaponry and carried out a bombing raid on the cement factory in Jalabiya using a suicide drone, causing substantial damage. Warplanes and drones continued to patrol the area throughout the day and night.

The Turkish air and drone activity also persisted over Kobani and its surrounding areas on the same day.
