An Israeli drone strike killed one person in southern Lebanon on Sunday, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.
The ministry said the fatality occurred in the border town of Halta but did not provide any details about the victim’s identity.
Later on Sunday evening, Israeli warplanes carried out an airstrike in Beirut’s southern suburbs, the state news agency NNA reported. The strike came shortly after the Israeli army issued an evacuation order for residents in the Hadath neighborhood.
There was no immediate information about casualties or injuries from the airstrike.
Videos posted on social media showed a building in flames, with thick smoke and dust rising above the area.
This marks the third Israeli airstrike on Beirut’s southern suburbs in the past month.
A fragile ceasefire has been in place in Lebanon since November. It ended months of cross-border fighting between Israel and Hezbollah that escalated into full-scale conflict in September.
Despite the ceasefire, Lebanese authorities report more than 2,765 Israeli violations. These incidents have resulted in at least 194 deaths and 486 injuries.
Under the terms of the ceasefire agreement, Israel was supposed to complete its withdrawal from southern Lebanon by January 26. However, the deadline was extended to February 18 after Israel refused to leave. Israel still maintains a military presence at five border outposts.
