A drone strike overnight targeted a major Russian electronics plant in Bryansk, according to Ukrainian officials and Russian Telegram channels on April 28.
Bryansk Oblast Governor Alexander Bogomaz reported that Ukrainian forces launched a “massive attack” on the region, with Russian air defenses claiming to intercept and destroy 102 drones.
Andrii Kovalenko, an official with Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, confirmed that “unidentified” drones hit the Kremniy-El plant, a key facility producing microelectronics for Russia’s military-industrial sector. This claim was also supported by Russian Telegram channels, although local authorities have not confirmed the attack.
The Kremniy-El plant manufactures components for Russia’s missile systems, including the Topol-M, Bulava, and Iskander, as well as radars, electronic warfare systems, drones, and military aircraft electronics, according to Russian sources.
Images and videos shared on Telegram depicted fires burning in parts of the city, with residents reporting flashes in the sky. Local media reported at least 10 to 15 explosions in Bryansk, causing damage to civilian infrastructure, vehicles, and residential buildings. Bogomaz stated that one civilian was killed and another injured in the attack.
Ukrainian officials have not yet commented on the incident. The Kyiv Independent was unable to independently verify the claims.
Bryansk, located about 100 kilometers (60 miles) north of the Russia-Ukraine border, has been a frequent target for Ukrainian forces aiming to disrupt Russia’s military and industrial operations deep within its territory.
