RedCliff, a company specializing in planning and operating drone shows using self-developed aircraft, announced on the 16th that it has successfully completed a Series B funding round. While the exact amount raised was not disclosed, the round saw participation from both existing investors, including DRONE FUND and Earthshot Fund, as well as new investors such as CDIB Capital Innovation Advisors Corporation, GENDA Capital, MC&C Fund, Samurai Incubate, Vector, and SHIKIGAKU (Promising Startup Investment Limited Liability Partnership).
Founded in May 2019, RedCliff has quickly established itself as a leader in the drone show industry, boasting over 1,000 aircraft used in its displays across Japan. The company’s success lies in combining high-quality animation production by experienced animators with the flight capabilities of their self-developed aircraft, “EMO-JP.”
In 2024, RedCliff made headlines by integrating fireworks into drone shows, and later that year, they set a Guinness World Record in Shenzhen, China, by flying 7,998 drones in a single display, marking the world’s largest drone show.
RedCliff’s drone shows are used for a variety of events, including advertisements, local festivals, fireworks displays, concerts, and commercial film shoots, both in Japan and internationally. Their proprietary “EMO-JP” drones feature an industry-leading flight time of up to 33 minutes and include advanced safety features like fail-safe and real-time monitoring systems. The drones are also capable of performing intricate animations, such as drawing logos and QR codes in the night sky.
In addition to their primary drone show business, RedCliff offers rental and subscription plans for drone displays and aircraft sales. They also run programming classes aimed at teaching students of all ages how to code using drones.
With the new funding, RedCliff plans to expand its partnerships with major companies in the theme park, gaming, and advertising industries. The company is also set to unveil a new dedicated drone, the “RiFF-JP,” which will feature additional effects such as fireworks, smoke, lasers, and LEDs for more dynamic performances.
