Raytheon has signed a term sheet with the Tawazun Council to begin local production of its Coyote counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS) interceptor in the United Arab Emirates. This initiative is aimed at strengthening global defense supply chains and improving mission readiness for both the United States and its allies.

The agreement was signed by Fahad Al Mheiri, Managing Director of Raytheon Emirates, and Matar Al Romaithi, Sector Chief of Defence and Security Industry Affairs at Tawazun Council. The signing ceremony was attended by U.S. Ambassador to the UAE, Martina Strong, and Dr. Nasser Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Tawazun Council.

The Coyote system, which has proven effective in combat scenarios, is crucial for countering drone threats. Local production in the UAE is expected to expedite deployment and offer greater flexibility in addressing operational needs.

Fahad Al Mheiri highlighted the significance of the deal, stating, “This agreement supports the U.S. defense industrial base by delivering increased capacity and resilience in a high-demand mission area. It’s a testament to the strength of our partnership with Tawazun and the shared vision to drive innovation and readiness through trusted collaboration.”
